Understanding The Energy Efficiency Rating

Elec7The government established energy efficiency ratings to allow you to be able to make the best economical choices when choosing a product. But, these ratings are also designed to help you make better environmental choices. And, understanding what those ratings mean can make your purchases easier.

There are two different types of energy rating labels. One type is found on consumer goods such as refrigerators, or washers and dryers. And, the other type is included with a home information pack that is needed to sell a home. The higher rating a home has, the less energy it utilizes for heating and cooling.

The rating score is done with letters from “A” to “G” with A representing the highest efficiency rating and G representing the lowest. However, some modern appliances score so high that there are now two more categories, A+ and A++. These ratings might seem quite complicated, but after you’ve had the energy efficiency rating explained, it’s quite simple.

When you’re shopping for products that have an energy label you should always try to purchase the one with the highest rating that you can afford. Even if the products purchase price is a little higher than a less efficient model, you’ll save more money each time you use the product. And, not only will you be saving money, you’ll be doing your part in saving the environment.
